Public Land Hunts

The Bitterroot National Forest consists of roughly 1.5 million acres the massive area encompassing both the Bitterroot and Sapphire Mountain Ranges. This area is commonly known as the Bitterroot Valley.

This can be a very rewarding but physically demanding public land hunt.
Hunters will be day hunting out of a Local Hotel or Air BnB in Darby or Hamilton, Montana.

We utilize 4x4's trucks to reach trailheads or focus areas & start hiking before daylight, in order to be in position overlooking areas known to hold elk, and post up watching for elk movement. We typically pack a lunch and will spend the day on the mountain but things can vary each day depending on weather, animal movements, and the hunting conditions. This is Not a Trophy Bull Elk Hunt, as most of our hunters that are presented with shots, are at small to averaged size but respectable 5 & 6 points from 200 - 250”, with a
small possibility of a larger bull. All veteran public land elk hunters know any bull on public is a good bull.

WHC will Provide all Lunch, Snacks, and Drinks while in the field hunting
All Bull Elk Hunts are Priced as 2 Hunters with 1 Guide - $4,500/per
For 1 Hunter with 1 Guide add an additional $1,000

All our “General Tag”, Bull Elk Hunters, have to Apply for a “Unlimited Draw Permit” in area - Unit 270-45

Hunt price doesn’t include your hunting license, elk tag,
transportation to / from camp to airport (provided for $350/roundtrip),
meat processing / taxidermy (we can arrange for drop off), & guide / cook gratuities.
